<Roof-end Tile with Moon and Rabbit Design Print Postcard>, Dance of Blessing 03.
<Roof-end Tile with Twin-bird Design Print Postcard>
Sumaksae are roof tiles used in traditional Korean architecture to decorate the ends of eaves while protecting buildings from rain. Their surfaces were carved with various patterns, carrying wishes for well-being and good fortune. In this work, the motifs embedded in sumaksae tiles are reimagined through the artist’s imagination and the technique of woodblock printing, unfolding into new visual landscapes. Viewers are invited to reflect on the meanings of ancient roof-tile patterns and let their own stories blossom. To allow these meanings and stories to be naturally experienced in everyday life, the works were created as print postcards and story cards. When words alone feel insufficient, write your thoughts on a sumaksae print postcard and send along a gesture of warmth and positive energy.
