The work on endangered birds and nature, which began in 2009 under the theme of “disappearance,” gradually expanded into a narrative about the self. The compositions—where birds and other beings are hidden within forests formed by overlapping layers of plants—represent nature as a place of calm and as a “shelter” that protects me from external threats. This is a world filled with light, where neither extinction nor destruction exists. The sense of wonder I have experienced through countless fleeting moments in nature has been carefully accumulated within me. By searching for fragments of inner peace and patiently weaving them together, I create “islands” of gentle, tranquil life force. With the birth of each island, a warm breeze begins to flow through the heart.
2009년 ‘사라짐’을 주제로 시작한 멸종 위기 새와 자연에 대한 작업은 점차 자신에 대한 이야기로 확장되었습니다. 중첩된 식물들로 이루어진 숲 속에 새를 비롯한 여러 존재들을 숨겨 놓은 작품의 구성은, 자연이 나에게 평온을 주는 공간이자 외부의 위협으로부터 보호해 주는 ‘안식처’임을 의미합니다. 이곳은 소멸도 파괴도 없는, 빛이 가득한 세계입니다. 셀 수 없이 많은 찰나 속에서 경험한 자연의 신비로움이 내 안에 차곡차곡 쌓여 있습니다. 내면에 간직된 평온의 조각들을 하나씩 찾아 정성스럽게 엮으며, 잔잔하고 부드러운 생명력의 ‘섬’을 만들어 갑니다. ‘섬’이 하나씩 탄생할 때마다, 마음에 따뜻한 바람이 불어옵니다.
