Five endangered birds peek out from between layers of plants, carefully hiding among the foliage. Alongside them, butterflies, caterpillars, ants, praying mantises, and other small insects are also tucked away, unseen at first glance. In the childhood game of hide-and-seek, the seeker calls out: “Hide well—don’t let your hair show!” As the seeker counts, the other children rush to conceal themselves, moving from place to place to avoid being found. When the hidden children can no longer be found, the seeker shouts, “I give up—oriole!” This phrase is used to describe something beautiful yet difficult to find, much like the oriole itself. As trees, forests, and mountains disappear and habitats continue to shrink, countless vulnerable lives are left in an increasingly precarious state. This hide-and-seek illustration was created with the hope that these fragile beings might remain safely hidden somewhere, like the elusive oriole. The main illustration, in which all five birds are hidden, is produced as a cushion. The version where none of the birds are visible is applied to an eco bag and a large pouch. In addition, five small pouches were created using five different patterns, each pairing a bird with plants that highlight its unique character.
