Under the theme of “Disappearance,” this project transforms four endangered bird species native to Korea—the Ural owl, Tristram's woodpecker, Fairy pitta, and Black paradise flycatcher—along with a baby emperor penguin, into lovable character designs. Discarded banners that are typically used only once are collected, washed, and dried, then reborn as recycled products featuring bird-themed character items. The collection includes three types of portable accessories—keychains, phone straps, and suction hooks—each decorated with a character doll. The back of each doll displays the name of the bird, subtly conveying a message about endangered species. The front of each doll is produced using materials and printing techniques that become more vivid in color with human touch. This interaction symbolizes that preventing disappearance requires warm attention and continuous care.
‘사라짐’을 주제로, 멸종 위기에 처한 국내 조류 4종(긴점박이올빼미, 크낙새, 팔색조, 삼광조)과 아기 황제펭귄을 사랑스러운 캐릭터로 디자인했습니다. 한 번 사용되고 버려지는 현수막 폐기물을 수거해 세척·건조 과정을 거친 뒤, 새(Bird) 캐릭터 용품으로 새롭게 탄생시킨 재활용 제품입니다. 열쇠고리, 핸드폰 줄, 큐방으로 구성된 휴대용품 3종에는 캐릭터 인형이 장식되어 있으며, 인형의 뒷면에는 해당 새의 이름을 적어 멸종 위기에 대한 메시지를 자연스럽게 전달합니다. 또한 인형의 앞면은 사람의 손길이 닿을수록 색이 더욱 선명해지는 소재와 인쇄 방식을 사용했습니다. 이는 ‘사라짐’을 막기 위해서는 따뜻한 관심과 지속적인 손길이 필요하다는 의미를 담고 있습니다.
